What’s new?
As many of you have heard, the Parish Administration and Finance Council have been addressing campus needs and upgrades over the past three years. Our parish facility assessment allows us to properly plan for and fund these ongoing capital improvement projects. At this time, we’re excited to inform you of our upcoming heating and air-conditioning project that will begin this fall.
Our church was built in 1977 and the original HVAC system is still in place. Just like your homes, we need to replace equipment that is past its anticipated service life. While we have continually maintained and serviced the air-handling equipment over the years, the units are well past their useful life and could fail at any time without warning.
What are the details of this project?
The parish, under the guidance of Newman Architecture and Amsco Engineering, obtained six bids for the project. With permission of the Bishop’s office, Oakbrook Mechanical was awarded the contract. Our estimated cost for the project, budgeted from our capital deposit account held at the Diocese, is $525,000. We anticipate operational savings with the installation of the new, energy efficient equipment. The project, which includes complete removal and replacement of the church heating and air-conditioning equipment, will begin on Monday, September 10, 2018. The timeline for the project is four – five weeks, during this time there will be no air-conditioning or heat in the church or church hall.
How will this affect use of the Church Hall?
During installation of the new air-handling equipment, there will be workers in the church hall and both of the lower level mechanical rooms. In addition, they will be welding and running new pipes throughout the church hall. Our priority is to maintain a safe environment for both the contractor and our parish families. In order to accomplish this, we will need to close the church hall for the four to five weeks of construction. We are working with the ministries who use the hall in order to relocate them during construction. At the present time, we do not anticipate the project will impact daily or week-end masses.
We are Grateful
We want to thank you again for your ongoing support of Our Lady of Peace Parish. Without the generosity and commitment you have shown to our parish these capital projects would not be possible. Your patience and cooperation during construction time is appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact our parish business manager,
