We have had many saints, Our Blessed Mother, and Jesus visit us during our school Masses the past two years. The picture on the left is from our Grandparent’s Day Mass last week. Jesus, along with two of his angels, met with one of our 8th graders and explained the reading to her and the rest of us. The picture on the right shows two students planning a party as they were visited by St. Martin who explained to them how they should invite everyone to the party. It was quite fitting to have St. Martin say this since we observed Unity Day (Anti-bullying Day) earlier this week.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Our fall Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 9th (12:30-8:00). The fall conferences are a mandatory conference. If you are unable to attend on this date, please make arrangements with your child(ren)’s teacher(s) to meet on a different date. We will have sign up on School Speak again this year and the sign up is open.
Although the marking period ends today, the grades that are currently in School Speak may not be the grades that your son/daughter has earned for the quarter. The teachers are given a few days to get their final grades and comments into School Speak before we finalize them for report cards. You will be notified when they are final.
GALA AUCTION WINE/HALLOWEEN RAFFLE
The Auction Committee is asking for your donations of bottles of wine ($20 value) for this year’s auction. In conjunction with the Halloween Raffle, families that donate: one bottle of wine will receive five general raffle tickets, two bottles of wine will receive an out of uniform pass and five general raffle tickets for each family member, and three bottles of wine will receive an out of uniform pass and six super raffle tickets for each family member. Please do not have the children bring the wine into school.
CALLED BY NAME
The 7th and 8th graders will attend the Called By Name vocations conference on Wednesday, November 8th. This was a big hit for the 7th and 8th graders last year and we look forward to another great experience for our children. A permission slip will be sent home early next week.
The Scholastic Book Fair will take place on Wednesday, November 8th and Thursday, November 9th during the school day. It will also be open during Parent Teacher Conferences.
Thank you to the 7th grade families that donated food and other items to the staff luncheon on Tuesday. The food was wonderful!

Our annual Halloween Raffle will conclude on Tuesday, October 31st. Before school begins and during lunches, students are allowed to come to the hallway outside the gym and purchase general and super raffle tickets for the raffle and candy, doughnuts, and other treats. The raffle drawings will take place on the afternoon of Halloween.
The H.S.A. Halloween Party is scheduled for Friday, October 27th (7-9 PM) in the gym. Admission is $5 per person and a maximum of $20 per family if paid by Oct. 23rd, or $25 at the door. Come dressed in your costumes and enjoy a spooktacular evening! There will be raffles, prizes, drinks, and pizza. There will be a parent costume contest. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
On Halloween day, we will have a Halloween parade with the children and staff in our Halloween costumes. Please have the children come to school in the costumes. All costumes should be appropriate for school. Costumes should not include weapons or things that look like weapons (knives, guns, light sabres, etc.), any blood or fake blood, or anything that could be scary to our students. If a child wears a mask or something else that may limit learning during the school day, they will be asked to remove it.
Parents are invited to come to the parade to see all of the kids in their costumes. After the parade, the 8th graders will do their annual Halloween presentation for the parents. After the parents see the 8th grade show, the children will be called down to see the show.
Every year the H.S.A. sponsors a school directory that is a great source to find contact information for your child(ren)’s friends. Mr. Didio is again putting this together and is asking for anyone that is interested in advertising in this year’s directory to please fill out the directory advertising form and return it to the school office. Please make sure that contact information for your family is current in School Speak as this is the information that will go into the directory.

DO YOU SHOPAROO?
Last year, our school earned almost $600 just because our families used their Shoparoo app. All that you have to do is download the Shoparoo app onto your smart phone, choose our school, and then take pictures of your receipts. The school earns money for certain receipts and chances to win monthly drawings with other receipts. In just three short weeks, we have earned $62! Come join the fun and get yourself signed up and start shopping. You do not put in any of your personal information into Shoparoo.
We took part in the international Unity Day on Wednesday. As a show of unity we asked the students and staff to wear the color orange. The theme for the day was Together Against Bullying – United for Kindness, Acceptance and Inclussion. It was a lovely day with so much orange in the building.

We earn money for each Box Top brought in. There are quarterly competitions and the end of the first quarter is Friday, October 27th. We will collect box tops through Friday, November 3rd for the first quarter’s competition.
